We live in a world where almost every child eventually gets sucked in to the vortex of electronic games and social media, which is increasingly replacing traditional forms of social and hands-on fun or even creative thinking. While some people suggest playing computer games can aid in the development of essential skills required for today’s world, experts point out many disadvantages including addiction and aggressive behaviour. But let’s face it, parenting in this digital age can be very tough. Focusing on a screen is a passive way of learning for children. We cannot eliminate this trend as it may be a requirement in the 21st century for many reasons. But what we can do is to help our kids find a happy median and help them see that allowing themselves to be creative opens up a whole new world of wonder and imagination that they didn’t even know was hiding inside them. But sometimes our kids don’t even know what they are missing out on… So they may need a bit of a nudge from their parents to give something a go…

But being creative can be VERY messy, expensive and a magnet for clutter as you will find yourself buying various craft supplies but using them only in small portions, requiring a space to store them for later use. Now imagine having to clean up after your creative child… Yay! to you if you can do it with a smile… For many, having a mess free living room is as important as letting your child have fun.
